Take advantage of ETF trading today

ETF means exchange-traded fund. It is a pool of tradable instruments of the same kind that can be traded together for a more balanced long-term investment. Many of the most popular ETFs are the ones that track industries like aviation, or indices like the S&P 500.
CFD means contract for difference. It's a way to trade in instruments without ownership, making the process faster. Also, CFDs can be leveraged, meaning that you can multiply your gains if you multiply the risk. iFOREX offers a 400:1 leverage on CFDs, including ETF CFDs.

You can now trade a large selection of ETF CFDs with leverage at iFOREX, on top of our hundreds of other CFD instruments which include shares, commodities, indices, currencies, and cryptocurrencies. On our platform, you can trade instruments that are based on the performances of leading ETFs and take advantage of price changes in any direction – up or down.

ETF Trading FAQs

Which platforms can I trade ETFs on?
You can trade ETFs on various online trading platforms that offer access to global financial markets. At iFOREX, you can trade a selection of major ETFs via Contracts for Difference (CFDs) on our easy-to-use web and mobile platforms. This allows you to speculate on ETF price movements without owning the underlying asset, with access to real-time data, flexible leverage, and advanced trading tools.

What is an ETF?
An ETF, or Exchange-Traded Fund, is a financial instrument that tracks the performance of a group of assets, such as stocks, commodities, or indices. ETFs are traded on stock exchanges just like individual shares, but they offer the advantage of instant diversification by holding multiple assets in one fund. This makes ETFs a popular choice for traders and investors looking for broader market exposure without buying each asset individually.

What is the 3:5-10 rule for ETFs?
The 3:5-10 rule is a simple guideline some investors use for building a diversified ETF portfolio. It suggests holding:
At least 3 ETFs to avoid concentration risk,
Around 5 ETFs for a balanced portfolio across different sectors or regions,
No more than 10 ETFs to keep the portfolio manageable and focused.
This rule isn’t a strict requirement, but it helps traders and investors maintain a good balance between diversification and simplicity when trading or investing in ETFs.

What is the difference between ETFs and shares?
Shares represent ownership in a single company, while ETFs represent ownership in a collection of assets grouped together into one fund. When you buy a share, you’re investing directly in one company’s performance. When you buy an ETF, you’re investing in the performance of multiple companies, sectors, or commodities at once. ETFs offer broader exposure and built-in diversification, whereas shares can offer more concentrated exposure (and therefore, potentially higher risk or reward) to a specific company.

Is forex an ETF?
No, forex is not an ETF. Forex (foreign exchange) refers to the trading of currencies, such as the U.S. dollar against the euro. It is the world’s largest and most liquid financial market. ETFs, on the other hand, are funds that can track different types of assets—including currencies, but also stocks, commodities, or indices. While there are currency-focused ETFs, forex trading itself involves directly buying and selling currency pairs, not trading a fund.
